Dear CCM Coordinator
CCM Bangladesh

Greetings from APACHA Team Bangladesh

I am Sharifun Nahar Rani, working as coordinator of APACHA Bangladesh Team. It was really nice talk with you over phone yesterday.

You know that APACHA (Asian People's Alliance for Combating HIV and AIDS) is a multisectoral response in Asia. APACHA is growing as a mass based and knowledge based network in the region and APACHA is creating space for wider social movements in Asia. APACHA is working with Trade Unions, PLHA groups, Student Unions, Lawyers, Academicians, Youths, Media, Women's right movement, Indigenous networks, Sex workers' networks, Faith based organizations, NGOs, UN agencies, Governments across Asia. We have our national chapters in many countries of Asia.

The composition of most of the CCMs has been a serious and one of the major issues for APACHA and we are trying to make it more democratic, transparent and participatory. In the context of Bangladesh also we are trying to see how CCM is functioning and how much participatory it is.

In this regard, APACHA Bangladesh national team meeting has decided to engage in the CCM reform process in Bangladesh. We appreciate all your efforts towards strengthening CCM in Bangladesh. However, we have realized whether this is high time for us to re strategize and re structure the CCM. We have also realized that in the context of Bangladesh we need to bring the issue of the Global Fund and CCM in the public discourse. In this regard, we would like to know some of the answers of following questions:

  1. Who are the current members of Bangladesh CCM?
  2. Who are the chair and vice chair of BCCM?
  3. How are CCM members selected?
  4. Is there any written guideline to choose CCM members and have we followed them?
  5. Is it going to be reconstituted soon?
  6. If yes, who will reconstitute it?
  7. Is PR selected through transparent process?
  8. Where is BCCM secretariat situated?
  9. What are programmatic highlights of round-8 for Bangladesh?

We will highly appreciate if you provide us the above information as soon as possible. We are always positive to work together and contribute in strengthening the governance systems and mechanism. We are always willing to provide our support as well.

Thank you and best regards.

On behalf of APACHA Bangladesh Team and
Coordinator Rani
